Health Care Forum – Calm and Quiet

I went to a Health Care Forum tonight. You’ve heard about all the teabagger mobs that have shut down some of the forums? Nothing like that happenned here. It was calm, quiet, and kind of boring.

Kyrsten Synema, one of the state legislators, conducted the event. She’s on Obama’s Health Care Task Force, so she’s traveling around the state presenting information and answering questions.

Yes, there were people who cheered the comment about our border — if ex-Gov Napolitano had closed it there would be no health care crisis. Yeah, makes no sense to me either. I’m sure that the insurance companies would have cut prices, insured all, and never denied care to anyone as long as that dang border was closed.

Anyway, I can’t report anything exciting. It was informative, but I bet the two bills described will be very different by the time they are combined in the conference committee.

I too attended the so-call forum at the Orpheum. I was appauled at the entire situation. We were not allowed to speak at all!!! Questions had to be written on slips that were collected by staff, delivered to the podium, and sorted. After a late start, we were admonished to behave outselves, the Orpeum was private property. Kyrsten instructed us we could go outside and scream and yell all we wanted, but NO

Kyrsten instructed us we could go outside and scream and yell all we wanted, but NO voices were allowed to be heard. One gentleman simply asked calmly to expand on his question that had been read. Kryssy called for the man to be tossed out. THAT IS UNAMERICAN!! This forum was a travisty, union thugs had us sign in ‘for attendance’ before we could enter…but the heading of the sheets read “I support healthcare reform”
The new Director of North Country community Clinic is straight from the Chicago area in nursing homes and inmate care. We were shown a poor presentation with outdated charts and stats. Fore warning of the type of care the Gov. will supply.
If this insulting treatment of “We the People” doesn’t raise your ire…please go read our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Interesting that you felt that way. I was happy that questions were answered, all kinds, without the loudest people getting the attention. I’ve been to other kinds of forums set up that way. I think Rick Renzi had one like that several years ago.

And I saw no “union thugs” so I think that’s your own perception. I’m curious why you hated the presentation. I imagine the health care issues are even worse now since the recession. It certainly wasn’t dynamic, but it was interesting hearing from somebody who is in the health care business. I’d like health care that isn’t controlled by insurance companies, who ration and deny care to many people.

By the way, I keep a copy of the Constitution in my purse and read parts of it often. We had a forum. At least it wasn’t a pre-screened, hand-picked audience. We all got to attend and had the chance to have our questions answered. And yes, that’s the way it works sometimes. Your question doesn’t get picked, sometimes it is.

WE DID NOT GET OUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!! Guess you’ve drank the kool-ade. The large man at the entryway that forced us to sign in was??? Oh why waste my time. Stupid people are easily fooled. Go live in a socialist country
        while we keep our rights!

You know, J Dosh, I bet you were fine when the Bush administration started torturing prisoners, wire-tapping our telephones, starting an unnecessary war, and giving away the treasure chest to corporations, you were fine and never complained. But by god, the idea that we, as a nation, try to find a way to provide health care for all citizens is a horrible thing to do. I bet you also watch Fox News and are getting some very bad information. Their audience is always the least informed. Do read more about the health care proposals. Though I don’t think you have to worry, you guys have managed to scare the democrats from doing anything. Fear and lies seems to win again. It’s sad.
