Oscar-Predicting Season is Upon Us

Cinema Blend is looking at possible Oscar nominations. After all, ’tis the season. We’re about to get hit with all kinds of movies aiming for Oscar glory in these last few weeks of the year. Unfortunately, living in Flagstaff, I will see very few before the Oscar nominations occur.

Night of the Living Trekkie

It’s Star Trek night at my place. I’ve picked up the DVD and am enjoying all the bonus features. For the first time I’m lusting for a Blu-ray player and a 32-inch HDTV. I’ve refused to be such a conspicuous consumption kind of gal, but I’m such a Star Trek geek that it seems perfectly logical to spend way too much money just to see this movie on a bigger, clearer screen.

Damn this Star Trek obsession!

Among the Living

There is something about using Twitter and Facebook that fulfills my need to write about myself. That certainly leaves this blog in a lonely state, doesn’t it? Really, I’ll try and post something soon. Meanwhile, here’s some good blog posts that keep me entertained…

CrossFit

I managed to do two workouts as prescribed (Rx’d). Amazing for me, but then again, when there are no prescribed weights or pull-ups or box jumps at a certain height I can do the activities. Oh, or if the workouts require muscle-ups, handstand push-ups, or rope climbs, I’m not going to Rx it. Anyway, felt good doing the two as prescribed:

  • Michael (okay, I didn’t do the 800m runs, but we thought we WERE doing 800 meters so I consider it was as prescribed)
  • Fun and Fortitude (I even beat a firebreather — he forgot how to do single unders and had to slow down)

Health

I’ll try not to be so remiss in my blogging duties (“there is no ‘try,’ only ‘do’).

Bottom Shelf Heaven

All right, how in the heck did my dogs, Duke and Spencer, manage to open the refrigerator door? Please tell me that it wasn’t closed all the way. The thought that they are learning to open it scares me. This happened once before. I’m just hoping it’s due to the door not being securely closed.

Oh, and they enjoyed the meat selection, all stored on the bottom shelf. This included my planned dinner, a salmon fillet. Hmph. Bottom shelf goodies galore. Dang dogs.

Fingers Crossed

There are elections going on today, so that means I’m surfing the web to see how things are going in certain state elections. The main one I’m paying attention to is the Maine oneĀ  — main , Maine – aren’t I clever? < birds chirping >

Okay, in Maine it’s the Vote No on prop 1 that has my attention. I’m hoping that gay marriage is not overturned in Maine, so the No votes have to win.

New York 23 has an interesting election where the Republican quit the race as the third-party candidate looked like he was going to win. It’s a real mish-mash of weird politics going on.

I’m also wondering if NJ Governor, John Corzine will keep his governor position. Christie was leading in the polls, but New Jersey is a weird state that can surprise everyone.

So, fingers are crossed that Maine goes the way that I want it to. I just wonder how long it will take before we learn the results?
